"Why is JJ giving away his things?"
"The Mysterious Gold Rush" is episode 51 of the series and the first part of the series final. It aired on June 19th, 2010.
Premise[]
J.J. begins to act strange one day and gets rid of many of his prized possessions while packing to leave. He claims he found gold, but Alfred is concerned and tries to look into it.

Alfred, his friends and various other residence of Gnarly Woods are convinced something is wrong with J.J. Raccoon. He's behaving suspiciously kind and giving away his treasures -really useless junk- to everyone. J.J. explains that he is planning to go away, and he's not going to be coming back.
The next day, the trio are concerned so they pay J.J. a visit. They find him packing and he explains how he discovered something great, and he's leaving to find more of it. He refuses to tell them, which makes the trio curious and they watch him drag a heavy chest away. Realizing he forgot his pack, they find a pick-axe and a pan. Alfred remarks that he'll probably come back in that case, but he takes pictures of the items and they spot some gold.
As they wonder what is going on and whether or not its real, Cynthia is spying on them. By now, mostly everyone in the forest is beginning to dig through the woods having overheard what happened. Alfred gets a call from his mom, letting him know about this, and Camille asks how they can determine if the gold is real or not. Alfred performs two tests to check its color and scent, and then smashing it to see what happens. He does some research on his findings and determines that the gold isn't real. It's pyrite, or "fools gold".
Cynthia is disappointed as Alfred reveals this to everyone, but he remarks that for J.J. its probably worse, considering he's been giving away everything and was going to move away. Camille and Milo manage to locate the raccoon near their school and reveal the truth, which does disappoint him. He wonders what he'll do now that he got rid of everything, but as they return to Alfred, he happily realizes that he managed to track down everything and get it back.
