After recovering from this, she explains what it looks like and Mr. Russard asks if there could be a thief in Gnarly Woods. Cynthia is convinced that she knows the culprit and runs off. Alfred and Co. give chase to try to stop her, saying she can't suspect someone without proof like this but she refuses to listen. The trio head back to the scene of the crime to investigate. It's then they hear someone yelling and Milo assumes it could be the thief trying to seal from someone else. But Alfred recognizes that it is singing and follow the sound to Mr. Remy's house.

He explains he was practicing for an upcoming event and was recording it. Alfred asks to hear it, explaining that he might have picked up some other sounds in the process. They hear chirping in the background and Alfred makes note of it. It's then Tina and Louise run over and they tell Alfred that they found the items from Cynthia's display.

The trio follow them to find the items partially buried, and Milo spots a strange feather on the ground. They are joined by Cynthia, who remarks on them calling her items junk; they are authentic crystal. Alfred states she can have them back after they study them for clues and the four head over to Hedgequarters. Alfred asks to borrow an earring and Cynthia hesitantly hands it over, then they return to the scene of the crime.

There, Alfred places a tiny GPS unit on it in order to keep track of the earring. Then they hide into the nearby bush to find a strange bird show up and steal it. By this point Cynthia and Milo have fallen asleep, and they quickly got woken up after Alfred and Camille run after the bird. They come across Mr. Russard and Alfred approaches a nearby tree, stating the thief is in it. Mr. Russard offers to climb the tree for them, since it'd be safer for an adult.

After reaching the top, he finds the earring and Alfred asks if Magpie's were in the tree. Mr. Russard doesn't see anything, and Cynthia asks why they should care. Alfred explains that the Magpie's are responsible for stealing her display. Mr. Russard then tells Cynthia she should apologize to J.J. for making accusations, but suddenly, the magpie grabs her earring and escapes with it. She angrily chases after it, causing the others to start laughing.
